NatureWorks has formed a new partnership with Climate Action for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, the 17th Conference of the Parties (“COP-17”), that will be held in Durban, South Africa from November 28th - December 9th, 2011.
With this partnership, NatureWorks confirms its commitment to sustainable materials innovation with Ingeo™, its low carbon footprint family of biopolymers from plants not oil. Following its Ingeo Earth Month, that saw the Ingeo Innovation Gallery at key events worldwide showcasing a selection of top consumer brands committed to responsible product innovation, NatureWorks will be present at the Conference of the Parties for the 3rd consecutive year.
“One of the core elements of our strategy is to communicate as well as innovate,” indicated Marc Verbruggen, president and chief executive officer at NatureWorks. “For us, that means being present at key industry events to showcase practical examples of intelligent innovation, with collections such as the Ingeo Innovation Gallery, and supporting synergy across the industry and between players that share common objectives and goals around carbon footprint reduction. Our Climate Action partnership this year is a natural one following on the heels of a series of projects we worked with them over the last year."
Climate Action is a multimedia platform consisting of a website, newsletter and annual publication, produced in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP.) It aims to encourage businesses and large organisations to reduce their carbon footprint, and puts forward the business case for climate change – namely, that environmentally responsible operations can also be profitable. Climate Action 2011/2012 will bring together a high level array of authors focusing on the green economy as a pathway to climate resilient and low emission growth. It will provide some of the latest thinking from all sectors on climate change and the green economy, helping to shape the political debate leading to COP-17 in Durban, South Africa.
