Earth Overshoot Day is hosted and calculated by Global Footprint Network, an international research organization that provides decision-makers with a menu of tools to help the human economy operate within Earth’s ecological limits.
To determine the date of the day, Global Footprint Network combined the most reliable data and formed the most reasonable assumptions to assess humanity’s resource situation.
The organisation has also calculated the Earth Overshoot Day for each region globally. You can find out what date the day would be if it was based on where you live here.
