The C40 international network of megacities has launched 11 Good Practice Guides on climate solutions that can be implemented worldwide.

The guides include 100 successful case studies on improving climate change adaptation and mitigation that can be replicated to boost cities’ resilience to a changing climate.

The Good Practice Guides are intended to provide roadmaps for mayors and urban policymakers as cities around the world explore ways to implement national climate targets under the global Paris Agreement that was reached in December.

The guides highlight 100 practical examples of climate actions that its member cities have successfully adopted, including urban solutions from Singapore.

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group is a network of more than 80 of the world’s largest cities including London, Tokyo, New York and Mumbai, focused on tackling climate change.

Shannon Lawrence, Director of Global Initiatives at C40, said cities are leading the way on climate action by offering “tangible solutions to reduce emissions, mitigate climate risks and deliver sustainable growth for their cities”.

The 11 Good Practice Guides identify nearly 70 categories of good practice in energy, transport, solid waste management, urban planning, adaptation and finance.

C40 said that it hopes cities from across the world will adopt and replicate the case studies and best practises in the guides: “This will allow cities to take meaningful action on climate change more quickly, at a lower cost and achieve greater impact than if they were acting alone.”
