WGBC, CDP and ICLEI join Sustainable Innovation Forum as partners

The World Green Building Council, Carbon Disclosure Project and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability have joined Climate Action's Sustainable Innovation Forum as partners. The three organisations will be actively involved in plenary panel sessions at the forum which will take place at the InterContinental Hotel, Doha, Qatar on December 6 2012.

The World Green Building Council, Carbon Disclosure Project and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability have joined Climate Action's Sustainable Innovation Forum as partners.

The three organisations will be actively involved in plenary panel sessions at the forum which will take place at the InterContinental Hotel, Doha, Qatar on December 6 2012.

The WorldGBC is a coalition of national Green Building Councils, making it the largest international organisation influencing the green building marketplace. Their mission is to facilitate the global transformation of the building industry towards sustainability through market driven mechanisms. They support the creation of new and emerging Green Building Councils by providing them with the tools and strategies to establish strong organisations and leadership positions in their countries.

Chief Executive Officer of the WorldGBC, Jane Henley, will represent the council on Plenary panel II: Sustainable cities: Examining the future for our urban population. Jane has addressed audiences at the COP 17 climate change negotiations in Durban, South Africa, the APEC – ASEAN workshop on green building in Singapore and the World Cities Summit of Mayors. Jane sets a positive and entrepreneurial agenda for business to drive change, and proactively create the future we want today.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent not-for-profit organisation collecting key climate change data from some 3,000 companies around the globe and has assembled the largest database of corporate greenhouse gas emissions and climate change information in the world. Founded in 2000, CDP facilitates the collection of climate change data within investment portfolios and represents 534 global institutional investors with a combined US $64 trillion in assets under management

Chief Executive Officer, Paul Simpson, will represent CDP on Plenary panel III- Technology and Innovation: Accelerating the green economy. Mr. Simpson has brought considerable operational management experience to drive forward CDP with a focus on globalizing CDP’s programmes, increasing the quality of data reported by companies and accelerating the business response to mitigate climate change.

ICLEI is an association of over 1,200 local government members who are committed to sustainable development. Members come from 70 different countries and represent nearly 570,000,000 people. ICLEI provides technical consulting, training, and information services to build capacity, share knowledge, and support local government in the implementation of sustainable development at the local level.

Secretary General of ICLEI, Konrad Otto-Zimmermann, will represent the association on Plenary panel II: Sustainable Cities. Mr. Otto-Zimmermann is a member of World Economic Forum´s Global Agenda Council on Infrastructure & Urban Development and an alumni of HRH The Prince of Wales' Business & the Environment Programme, Cambridge, UK. He also has several board and advisory functions such as with the International Green Purchasing Network and KATERVA. He is author, editor, or co-editor of 11 books and hundreds of articles in various magazines on local environmental planning & management and non-motorized urban transport. He has held positions in national and local government as well as in inter-municipal consultancy.
