Biofuels Expo 15th - 16th October
Newark Showground, Nottinghamshire

At this years European Biofuels Expo & Conference the organisers are running a series of free to attend workshops aimed at educating the public on how to make biodiesel safely and at low cost at home and also about adopting Wood pellets as a primary heat source for home or community buildings.

Since 2007 UK households have been able to make up to 2,500 litres of biofuel tax-free.

The free Biodiesel workshop will inform the public on all aspects of biodiesel homebrew production and make sure that the fuel produced can be used in normal family diesel cars, i.e. the quality is acceptable.

  • UK residents can make up to 2,500 litres tax free
  • Production cost can be as low as 15-20p/litre
  • Many exhibitors at the Expo sell homebrew kits starting from £500
  • Other workshops will cover Taxation, Health & safety, quality etc.
  • A workshop on adopting wood energy / wood pellets as the primary source for domestic heating will also be running.

The free Wood Pellet energy Workshop will focus on this emerging technology in the UK. Wood pellets are condensed waste wood that burns very efficiently in boilers or stoves.

Community buildings or private homes that adopt wood pellets as their primary heat source will find their energy bills are lower and their carbon footprints massively reduced. Wood pellets are typically made from wood that would have otherwise gone to landfill.

The wood pellet market is very well established in France, Germany, Italy and Austria, the UK is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.

The Expo will feature over 100 exhibitors at the Newark showground who will be showcasing the latest bioenergy technology. Sustainability is a high priority for all exhibitors as almost all products work on waste product streams.

Registration to enter the expo is £10 if pre-registered, otherwise £25 on the door.

Once at the expo all workshop sessions are free to attend.

Registration is on line at www.biofuels-expo.co.uk

Workshops run on both expo days 15th & 16th October.
