NEW DEHLI, India– (October 1, 2012) - New Holland Fiat India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of CNH Global and part of Fiat Industrial, has recently been recognized with the 2012 Agriculture Leadership Award during the 5th Agriculture Leadership Summit on the Environment and Agriculture in India.

The awards are given annually in different categories to individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields. The selection and organizing Committee of Agriculture Leadership Awards was chaired by Professor M.S. Swaminathan, Pioneer of India’s green revolution, with fifteen experts of National and International eminence as its members.

The award was presented to New Holland with the citation:  “New Holland Fiat India has defined a new framework for a sustainable approach to agriculture through the mechanization of sugarcane harvesting and biomass collection.”

New Holland has shown through its Clean Energy Leader strategy how it is able to support an easy transition to sustainable mechanized farming, integrating innovations and practices that deliver performance while keeping costs down and cutting fuel consumption and emissions.

A pillar of New Holland’s strength in supporting agricultural mechanization is the manufacturing of world class tractors in India. Tractors built by New Holland in its state-of-the-art plant at Greater Noida are exported to over 50 countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East – a true testimony of New Holland Fiat India’s production quality.

New Holland is able to meet the needs of farms of all sizes to grow, harvest, collect and process crops for food production or biomasswith its technologically superior range of tractors and the widest agricultural equipment range in the industry.  In addition, New Holland Fiat India is able to offer its customers access to the renowned sugarcane harvesters of sister company Case IH.

Biomass can be used in power plants, generating earnings for the farmer and providing an additional fossil-free source of electricity. In addition, the trash is excellent for mulching and a source of organic matter that improves soil productivity and water retention, optimizing the use of precious resources.

New Holland has developed extensive experience in this industry and collaborated with major biomass based energy firms in India, Brazil and Europe on sustainable and economical power generation from crop residue biomass.

Thus, the company is empowering farms and farmers through technology, mechanization and sustainable agriculture programs that include complete after-sales support, technical training and advisory programs to farming practices. In fact, New Holland has recently opened its first Crop Solution Dealership in Gujarat to provide dedicated support to farmers, further strengthening its position as a full farm mechanization solution service provider in the country.
