Renewable energy has provided nearly double the amount of electricity in Germany than nuclear power so far in 2015, according to the German Association of Energy and Water Industries.

Renewables have generated about 114,700 gigawatt hours of electricity in Germany in the first 9-months of the year.

Photovoltaic solar energy generation in Germany is up 5 per cent higher in the first nine months of this year compared to the whole of 2016.

Germany’s PV systems generated just over 33,000 gigawatt hours of solar electricity up to the end of September.

Over the same 9-month period, wind power has generated 52 per cent more than it did in the whole of 2014, and has produced 59,000 gigawatt hours of electricity.
