All Democrats senators’ all-night talk-a-thon dedicated to climate change. With no topics of legislation specified, all that was left to public knowledge was the Twitter hashtag, #Up4Climate in hopes to refresh interest in climate change legislation and connect with the party’s foundation.

Some Republicans viewed the Democrats all-night talk-a-thon as a night of speeches to raise money. They have denied that global warming is happening resisting climate-change measures due to their fears of imposed costs on businesses and consumers if new regulations were to be followed.

The climate-change marathon was shown live on C-SPAN. More than two dozen Democratic senators took to the Senate floor giving speeches on climate change till 9am on Today.

The all-nighter was coordinated by a new initiative, the Climate Action Task Force, which is trying to stir up support for Barack Obama's climate change agenda.

But there is a noticeable change in the Obama administration's enthusiasm to embrace climate change as an essential political issue being much more vocal in his second term especially with the efforts of regulating carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, which is the single largest source of climate pollution.

There has been a steady growing awareness of climates change and the impact we as people are having on it.

Most recently, the secretary of state, John Kerry, reaffirmed on Friday he has an appetite to make climate change his signature issue.

The Pentagon also reaffirmed last week that it saw climate change as a threat to military installations.

Some of the 28 senators who took the floor on Monday night have been working on climate change for years most noticeably Masschusetts Democrat Ed Markey, who was co-author of a 2009 bill.
