PRESS RELEASE - London, UK - March 15 2017 - We are delighted to announce that Lisa Walker, CEO of Ecosphere+, has been recognised as a 2017 Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum.

Every year the World Economic Forum celebrates a select group of individuals under 40 who are radically changing their industry, policy-making and society. They are exceptional next-generation leaders who are bold, brave, action-oriented, and entrepreneurial who have two main characteristics: they have achieved their success young and have committed their lives to making a positive impact on society.

“We’ve asked these young leaders to join the YGL community because of their ground-breaking work, creative approaches to problems and ability to build bridges across cultures and between business, government and civil society. These leaders highlight the potential for innovation to correct the shortcomings in our economies and societies,” said John Dutton, Head of the Forum of Young Global Leaders at the World Economic Forum.

Lisa hails from a distinguished career in oil and gas dedicated to delivering climate change action, collaboration and low-carbon investment within the sector. As CEO of Ecosphere+, she is taking a proactive approach to engaging business in transformative land-use changes, which are a critical climate change solution that can deliver many wider benefits for society. She has spent her professional life driving the energy transition from within, and now, with the urgency of climate change, she has turned to catalysing support for our most valuable natural asset, forests.

Lisa said, “I am honoured to have been selected as a YGL by the World Economic Forum, and to be part of a community of innovative, committed and inspiring individuals all working towards a better future. My passion started at an early age. Growing up in New Zealand I was acutely aware of how connected our world is and how the environment in one country can suffer or flourish based on the choices of another. Climate change could be said to be the greatest challenge humanity has ever faced, which cannot be solved by one industry, technology or government. It requires unprecedented global collaboration and collective solutions.  I have dedicated my career to helping to shape these solutions, and draw strength from my family including my four young children who will be living with the consequences of the decisions we make today. I am excited about the potential of engaging with and learning from my fellow YGLs in channeling collective action towards climate change.”
