Macquarie Group, the global financial services provider, will invest £739 million ($1.1 billion) in low-carbon energy projects in the UK, according to a statement on Monday.

The finance will be channelled through the Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Fund, the bank said.

It has raised a total of £2.5 billion and put £342.5 million towards ground-mounted and rooftop solar projects and onshore winds farms.

The fund started in March 2014, and has seen particular demand from UK and European investors.

Andrew Robertson, co-head of Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions, said: “The speed of development and acceptance from borrowers has been strong.”
