Global climate leaders launch road map to support Paris Agreement

Global climate leaders from France and Morocco have launched a detailed plan to support the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The agenda sets out cooperative actions between governments, cities, businesses, investors and citizens to reduce carbon emissions and help developing nations adapt to climate change and adopt clean energy strategies.

Laurence Tubiana, French Ambassador for climate change and H.E. Hakima El Haite, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment of Morocco published their road map for the agenda this week.

The road map is intended to support the early implementation of the landmark Paris Agreement that was reached in December by 195 United Nations member states at the COP21 climate summit.

As part of the plan, Tubiana (pictured right) and El Haite (left) have also launched a consultative process designed to promote input and feedback from governments and non-state actors.

A key part of the road map includes a series of events in the build up to the COP22 UN climate summit in Marrakech, Morocco, that runs from 7-18 November 2016.

Tubiana and El Haite will present a joint report at COP22 on climate action and on the implementation of the road map.
