The Siemens Energy Sector is the world’s leading supplier of a broad spectrum of products, services and solutions for power generation in thermal power plants and using renewables, power transmission in grids and for the extraction, processing and transport of oil and gas.

In fiscal 2013 (ended September 30), the Energy Sector had revenues of €26.6 billion and received new orders totaling approximately €28.8 billion and posted a profit of approximately €2 billion.

Siemens Energy’s portfolio includes, amongst others, turnkey solutions for integrated energy production with renewable and fossil energy generation units of all sizes and integrates energy storage devices for distributed generation units and entire fleets. These solutions provide balancing of volatile power, bundling of smaller units to participate in energy markets incl. reserve power, off-grid power solutions with minimised cost of energy and fleet optimisation for best profitability in liberalized energy markets.

For reliable power supply in remote locations with weak or no grid connection Siemens offers Hybrid Power Solutions. These integrate high levels of solar and/or wind energy with fossil, e.g. diesel, HFO, generation units of all sizes. This hybridization leads to a significant reduction in fuel consumption and costs, and carbon emissions. Each project is customized for local conditions based on a detailed analysis of the customers’ load requirements, solar and wind resources. Up to 100 per cent peak penetration of renewables is enabled by the utilization of integrated energy storage.
